Alabama History & Reading
We are studying Indians in AL History. We also have many Indian stories through out our reading books. I am going to mix things up and we will begin reading the stories about Indians over the next couple of weeks in reading. The stories will be located in different reading books, such as this week we are reading from our Salute to Courage, Trails to Explore and Flags Unfurled. We try to read 3 stories each week in reading and cover a literary skill, along with vocabulary words. This week our literary skill is still main ideas.
We are also beginning a project in AL History on Indian Homes. The children will choose an Indian home to build and write a report on. This is the student's project, yet I understand that some parental help will be needed but please let the your child do most of the work. I will send home a letter explaining the project further.

Daily Spelling Quiz Confusion
The Daily Spelling Quizzes are not taken as any type of grade, they are to be used to help study. If a student does not spell all the words correctly it is okay, just study those words missed a little extra. Now if they do spell all words correctly through out all quizzes they do not have to take that part of the spelling test on Wednesday. And then on Tuesday when we spell the vocabulary words they are used as bonus points. If you child misses a test it is okay, no penalties. These are just to help study fewer words at a time. I hope this clears some of the confusion.
